Styling trends that are all the buzz this year - and we are here for it!

With January coming to a close, the first month of the new year has been filled with posts, stories, reels, and blogs (It’s me, Hi!) about the ins/outs of home design trends for the year ahead.

A home is one of the most personal items an individual will ever own, and we continue to be grateful each day that clients continue to invite us into theirs - to be a part of whatever story they are writing - be it retirement, downsizing, dream home, investment property, fresh start, new beginning, etc. It’s both a joy and a privilege - one we value.

When everyone else is writing about the trends that lie ahead, I want to share what I have learned from serving our community that has nothing to do with a trend, and everything to do with home STYLE.

Simply put - Copy and Paste is Out.

Those home design magazines are beautiful, but do we all need the same styled living room?  Do we all need to see the same shopping hauls over and over from the big box stores?  Your home should be that - yours.  It’s a reflection of you - spaces that invite or relax, items that are important or meaningful, and people that share your story.

THIS is why I am thrilled to hear that “the Masters in Home Design” are taking a turn this year to focus more on the personal style of a home.  This means, you don’t need to feel guilty about keeping an antique you were gifted, a couch you love, or a vase that you just can’t part with.  In fact, adding a touch of “Heritage” to your home creates a great style - typically feels more curated, collected, and (dare I say it again) more like you.

For our coastal community, we hear you struggling to blend your darker furniture with the light and airy typically found near the coast.  This blend of the days that have been lived with those that have yet to come is a nod to history.  This style of blending old with the new reminds me of the history of the homes in the Keys - the intentional way history has been preserved, yet elevated for today’s lifestyle.  This is a style our team affectionately calls “Hemingway Coastal”, and the above picture is an example of where a client did it well!

When pulling pieces together in your home season after season this year, keep in mind that great style is personal.  Wherever you land, YOUR style will always be the Best Style for a home that is uniquely yours.
